TigerLily
American Shorthair
TigerLily came to Moccasin Landing June  2001 at the age of 11 weeks.  She is described by the vet as an American Shorthair black calico tabby.  Lily weighed 3.5 pounds on her vet visit, and she checked negative for feline leukemia and distemper.  She was wormed because she did have round worms.
This week, 8/2002, Lily went for her annual checkup and rabies shot. She didn't like the ride in the carrier, and meowed the whole trip.  Lily has a purpose here. She lays in wait for squirrels hoping to better the record of  the two dogs. So far, squirrels are winning but careful around Lily. Lily also caught 3 mice (blind or not) and brought them to me!!  Gee, thanks, Lily!!
Lily was a gangly kitten, but  she is filling out  nicely, eating herEucanuba Ocean Fish pellets with great gusto. Her summer weight is 8 pounds now,  her coat is slick and in good condition.  She is also a "well adjusted" cat, a fortunate thing since Lily is the only cat I've ever owned! If  other critters enter her arena, they better be wearing  track shoes, because she is quick! Unlike her littermate who has NO tail (father is a Manx), Lily has an extremely long tail. She is an outdoor cat, and so far she stays near home.
If you have an outdoor cat which hunts, make sure you keep the rabies shot current.  Since Lily had a reaction to her shot last time, the vet said we would give it in a different spot and maybe in two separate injections.  Cats can have adverse reactions to rabies vaccine.

Born & raised in a flower pot
The first day of summer was her first day here. Lily rooted out a flower and set up her  safe observation post in its pot--natural for her, since she was born and raised  in the pot of a big Norfolk Island pine.
Attention Mice: MOUSER ON DUTY!!
Watch out squirrels, HERE SHE COMES!!

Newborn kittens in flower pot
Lily's first picture showing Mama Tigger and the two baby girls in the Norfolk Island pine flower pot.  Lily still likes to be around pines and pots.Tigger is a beige tabby, with a shorter tail than Lily.  She was spayed as was Lily.  Please spay/neuter your pets. This helps prevent mammary cancer in female cats and dogs, and testicular cancer in males.
She is growing into those big ears.
The Huntress is quite good now, as her weight gain shows. The other day she brought me a small snake, still unharmed, and quite a few anole lizards, mice, and, sad to say, birds.  I've moved the wild bird feeder several times, but she charms them somehow.  Neither bugs nor butterflies are beyond her.
